Novalis Publishing Director Joe Sinasac of Toronto has been elected as president of the Association of Roman Catholic Communicators of Canada.
He was elected at ARCCC's annual general meeting that took place during the annual gathering of the organization in Toronto May 13-15. It was a joint conference held with Canadian Church Press, representing church publications from various Christian denominations.
Also elected was Lorraine Turchansky of the Archdiocese of Edmonton communications office as Vice-president for Western Canada. Brother John Frampton of the Capuchins of Central Canada was confirmed as Vice-president for Central Canada and Rev. Tom Kurudeepan was confirmed as Vice-president of the Atlantic region. Bill Kokesch of Montreal fills out the ARCCC executive as past president.
Good to see the latest news on this blog. We had a good conference and I look forward to many great things for ARCCC. One subject that came up on the weekend, as it always does at these things, is how come the media igores the annual March for Life when it is such a huge demonstration? I am happy to report the first ever mainstream newspaper coverage of the Edmonton March for Life -- you can see it at http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Anti+abortion+rally+legislature+draws+hundreds/3026287/story.html
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe the coverage is the result of that "trinity" of requirements:
* a well-written, engaging news release
* a good, respectful relationship with local journalists
* and nothing else going on that day!
